Wild Hog Taxidermy

If you are reading this article means that you most likely already killed the wild boar and you don't know how to taxidermy it. So for example, you caught an European hog, and you want to mount its skull. Questions like "how do I attach the lower jaw to the skull?" or "how to I make it hangable?" start to appear.

Behind the hog's skull there will be a large hole in the bone on either side of the skull. You will have to run some bailing wire through and make a loop. Next, put a good screw into a stud on the wall and just hank it like you would do with a picture. The good thing is that the wire and the crew will not be seen. You might as well wire the lower jaw in place by drilling small holes in it and the skull, where they will not be seen. An alternative would be to drill through the jaw and use a small dowel as a pin in order to articulate the jaw.

Of course, if you find this hard to do or you want to mount a full size hog, you can and should use the services of a professional taxidermist. Below are a couple of relevant examples. .
